Prof. Pijush Samui is an established researcher in the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for solving different problems in engineering. He works as an associate professor in the department of civil engineering at NIT Patna(India). He has published more than 100 journal papers. Dr. Samui developed a new method for prediction of response of soil during an earthquake. He has given charts for prediction of response of soil during an earthquake and developed equations for prediction of lateral spreading of soil due to earthquake. He developed equations for determination of seismic liquefaction potential of soil based on strain energy and prediction of seismic attenuation. Dr. Samui developed efficient models for prediction of magnitude of reservoir induced earthquake. He generated new methodology for site characterization to provide soil properties at any point in site without performing a test. The developed model is very useful for smart city project. Dr Samui has developed models for determination of medical waste generation in hospitals with equations used for practical purpose. The developed models can be used for clean India project. He determined frequency effects on liquefaction by using Shake Table. The number of cycles to reach either the peak pore water pressure or the final settlement of soil mass increases significantly with an increase in the frequency of the excitation. He applied soft computing techniques for prediction of stability status of rock and soil slope. He generated methodologies for determination of reliability of slope. Dr. Samui has applied AI techniques for determination of bearing capacity and settlement of foundation and equations for determination of bearing capacity and settlement of shallow foundation. Dr Samui also developed equations for determination of compression index and angle of shearing resistance of soil. Equations have been developed for prediction of uplift capacity of suction caisson. Users can use the model for smart city projects. He developed equations for determination facture parameters of concrete. The models have been developed for determination elastic modulus of concrete.Dr Samuiís active research activity is evident from his extensive citation of publications in google scholar (total citations = 1093) with H-Index of 20. Dr Samui has published books/book chapters and peer reviewed conference papers that involved co-authors from Australia, India, Korea and several other nations.He has been Visiting Professor at Far East Federal University(Russia).

Dr. Sinoj Abraham is a Research Faculty at the Chemical and Materials Engineering Department of University of Alberta and a Group Leader in Ingenuity Lab at the University of Alberta. Ingenuity Lab is a research program launched by the Province of Alberta, the University of Alberta and the National Institute for Nanotechnology. Dr. Abraham, after receiving his Ph. D. in August 2007 (Macromolecular Design and Engineering), joined the Alberta Lipid Utilization Program at University of Alberta for investigating value-added materials from renewable resources and become part with commissioning the scale-up pilot plant production facility for making polyols from canola oil. He is interested in the relationship between the structure of the materials at atomic or molecular scales and their properties, all with an eye towards real-world applications. During this post-doctoral tenure, Dr. Abraham was actively involved in fabricating anti-biofouling materials for medical implants and biomimicing growth factors, ECMís etc. from renewable resources. He expects the research in biomaterials research helps to develop effective, affordable and safe products that would improve the quality of life of a large number of people, and help achieve sustainability. Spending several years in Industry (Hy-Power Nano Inc.) as a senior research officer, Dr. Abraham led the team that developed a new method for making transparent conducting oxides (TCO) for various photo-electro-mechanical applications, including green coating for windows, antibacterial formulations for sterile atmospheres and so on. Currently, he is the team leader of chemistry and materials with Ingenuity Lab, designing nano-biological materials. The team consists of a mixture of graduate students, technicians, post-doctoral fellows and research faculties and takes part in highly collaborative research with leading groups in the university and around the world. The on-going research activities include biomimics, 4D printing, regenerative medicine, membranes, water purifications, oil-water separations, etc. Dr. Abraham is currently working on various projects funded by organizations such as Natural Resources Canada, J&J Vistakon, Inc., Alberta Innovates and Juvenile Diabetic Research Fund. Dr. Abraham is a co-inventor on 9 patents and has co-authored more than 30 research publications. His research interests include Biomaterials, Polymers, Nano Materials, Environmental and Green Materials, Energy harvesting and energy-transfer materials, and Materials-based devices.

Dr. Kinda Khalaf,received her B.S. (Summa Cum Laude with Distinction) and M.S. (Honors) degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. Her Ph.D., also from the Ohio State University, is in Biomechanics/Computational Biomechanics with two minors in Biomaterials, and Dynamic modeling and control. Dr. Khalaf has held faculty appointments in Engineering and Medicine at the University of Miami (Coral Gables, Florida), American University of Beirut (AUB), where she held the first joint appointment between the faculties of Engineering and Medicine, American University of Sharjah (AUS), and most recently Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research in Abu Dhabi where she serves as associate chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Khalaf is on the list of International Who Is Who of Professionals. She has been awarded the LAMME Scholarship for most outstanding senior, the Woman of Engineering Award for outstanding Academic Achievement multiple times, the Presidential Fellowship Award, the prestigious National Merit Scholar, the University of Miami College of Engineering Teaching Award, and the Khalifa University Faculty Excellence award. She has been conducting research in the areas of Orthopedic Biomechanics, Computational Biomechanics, and Biomedical Devices and Biomaterials. Her research record is reflected in various national and international research grants, collaborations and awards, numerous journal publications, multidisciplinary lectures and conference proceedings. She is also passionate about improving engineering education including the design and implementation of curricular innovative pedagogies and quantitative assessment instruments. She has been invited as keynote speaker to several education conferences and has written several journal articles and book chapters on the subject. Dr. Khalaf is currently the chairperson of the UAE branch of the Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (IEEE, EMBS), a founding member of the IEEE education chapter in the UAE (IEEE EDUCON), a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Society of Biomechanics (ASB), American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES), Tau Beta Pi (Honorary Engineering Society), Pi Tau Sigma (Honorary Mechanical Engineering Society), Alpha Eta Mu Beta (Honorary Biomedical Engineering Society), the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), and the International Institute of Women Engineers (IIWE).
